summer lovin' ...

Photobucket
Summer has officially begun here in KC. The heat and humidity are crazy and we are so glad
we have so many pools close by. We are taking full advantage of them already.

Here is our attempt at a picture in their cute Sunday outfits. I have decided that getting a cute
picture of two kids is next to impossible! This one turned out alright, but there are probably
20 out takes to go along with it!

I am loving having a little girl to dress up and love on!

While Nate's fam was here, we hit up the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. Sadly, it was our
first visit there even though we have been here for four years! It was such a fun experience
and we will definitely go back.

We found some Thomas the Train tracks and trains on Craigslist to add to our collection and
they have been the biggest hit. Hayden seriously plays with them every day and constantly
talks about the different trains like they are his real friends. He is in such a fun stage right now!

Our local library had a special event with a clown that performed magic tricks for the kids.
Hayden loved it, but kept calling the clown "Santa Claus." I don't quite know where he came
up with that, but it was pretty funny. I guess anyone that is dressed up is Santa to him.
The clown also made him this Spiderman balloon that he thought was the coolest thing ever.

We had a great Memorial Day weekend. We hit up our local downtown farmer's market and
had such a fun time there. Hay rode in this darling little train around the market and we
bought the most amazing kettle corn I have ever eaten. We devoured it!

The highlight of the weekend was our discovery of the Line Creek Railroad. It is this darling
little train that is just a few miles from our house, yet somehow it eluded us until now.
Needless to say, Hayden was in absolute HEAVEN! We rode it like 5 times on Friday and
then went back again on Monday with our friends, the Anderson's. Ever since, it is all
Hayden can talk about and asks daily when we can go back again.

And now for the reptile portion of the post: Next to the little train, this crazy guy
constructed a huge alligator out of mud. Don't ask me why he made it, but Hayden and
his friend Toree thought it was pretty cool!

Grandma Sally also sent Hay this little turtle backpack with an attached turtle head hood.
We have laughed all week at this backpack. It is darling, but so hilarious!

Yesterday, it was raining cats and dogs here, so we threw on Hayden's rainboots, got
him an umbrella and he went to town! He loved playing in the rain and by the time he was
done splashing and I took off his boots, they were totally full of water. I hope they don't
have a leak in them and the water was just from all the fun he was having!

And of course, one last picture of my beautiful Cora. Look at how chunky she is getting!
He cheeks just keep on growing!

Sorry, I hope you don't mind. I was blog hoppin' and came across yours. Lindsey (Brad and Lindsey) is my sister. I just have to say how dang cute your baby Cora is. Seriously she is one of the prettiest babies I have ever seen. Her newborn pics are beautiful. And I agree girls are so fun to dress up. Enjoy!
